Graduating with a BFA from Syracuse University, Mitch moved to New York City and spent fifteen years touring the US and Europe as a professional singer and dancer, including the 1995 revival of “Hello, Dolly!” starring Carol Channing.

Intermediate Contemporary Forms with Scott McPheeters 10:45-12:15

Scott McPheeters (he/him) ( is a queer, interdisciplinary dance artist and educator currently based in Maine. He co-directs dance and video installation company, Subcircle ( and is a co-founder of Subcircle Residency ( – @subcircleresidency) located on a farm in Biddeford, ME. Over the past two decades, McPheeters has performed with many Philadelphia-based companies and individuals including Nichole Canuso Dance Company, Headlong Dance Theater, Bearded Ladies Cabaret, Kun-Yang Lin / Dancers, Marianela Boán, Tori Lawrence + Co., Bronwen MacArthur, Beau Hancock, and Ellie Goudie-Averill. In 2016 he received a Philadelphia Barrymore Award (“Best Lead Actor in a Musical”) for his portrayal of Candy Darling in the Opera Philadelphia / Bearded Ladies collaboration Andy: A Popera. He is committed to an artistic practice that is constantly evolving to accommodate, reflect and comment on site, situation, and collaborative influences.


The aim of this class is for participants to encounter moments of release through meticulous efforting, find pleasure in suspended inversions, and strengthen improvisational skills through various sensitivity and listening practices. We’ll strive for physical integration, and practice build community through generous observation and thoughtful feedback.
