Dear parents,

Teachers and students are hard at work in the studios in preparation for CBM’s Spring Concerts.  The letter(s) below is going home with dancers the week of May 13.  It includes detailed information including rehearsal schedules.  Please reach out with any questions, info@cascobaymovers.com or 871.1013.

  • Tickets will go on sale at CBM’s front desk or over the phone,207.871.1013 on Tuesday, May 14th at 3 PM.   
  • Costume balance of $35/class is now due.  (The total costume payment per class is $70.)  A $10 late fee will be assessed on May 25th on balances past due.

SPRING CONCERT IMPORTANT INFO Letter #2

Dear Dancers and Parents,                                                                                May 2019

As you all know we are beginning preparations for our Spring Dance Concert.  Please read this letter carefully as it contains a lot of important show information. The shows will be at the Westbrook Performing Arts Center located at 471 Stroudwater Street Westbrook, ME (Westbrook Middle School) on Saturday, June 15th. There will be a matinee at 1:00 pm and an evening show at 7:00 pm.

When is my dancer performing?

MATINEE – SATURDAY JUNE 15TH 1:00 PM (Doors open at 12:30 pm)

If you are receiving this letter, your dancer is performing in the matinee.

*Students in more than one class or siblings dancing in different classes may be scheduled in each performance.*

Dress Rehearsal

A detailed rehearsal schedule is attached. Rehearsal time is very tight so it’s important for the dancers to arrive at least ten minutes early prepared with their costume on and hair and makeup done to go on stage at the assigned time. TEN minutes before your rehearsal time, please meet in the Gymnasium, where group photos will be taken. Dancers will be brought to the Auditorium to run their dance on stage. If you choose to escort your child into the theater, only one parent per dancer is allowed in the auditorium during rehearsal.  Food is allowed in the cafeteria only, not in the auditorium.  The rehearsals are very important for the dancers to become accustomed to the stage and for the choreographers to make adjustments as needed for the stage.  After rehearsal, dancers may leave the theater, but need to return to the theater by 12:30 pm.

Anyone who misses his/her dress rehearsal or has an outstanding balance for tuition or costumes will not be allowed to perform in the show.

DROP OFF/PICK UP

Your dancer will be sitting in the theater with their class.  When the doors open at 12:30 for show time, please bring your dancer to their assigned seating in the theater and let their chaperone know their name.

After the show, you may pick your dancer up in exactly the same spot you left them.  We kindly ask that you sign your dancer out with their chaperone. *If your dancer is in more than one piece:  You will drop them off with their first performance group and pick them up where their last performance group is sitting.

****There will be no kids classes held at the studio Friday or Saturday, June 14 and 15. Please report directly to the theater for your scheduled dress rehearsal.****

COSTUMES/MAKEUP

Costumes will go home with dancers in the coming weeks.  Please note that while we order costumes based on your child’s specific measurements, costumes are not custom made and will likely need simple adjustments such as adjusting of straps or hemming.  

Simple stage makeup, such as soft pink blush and lipstick or gloss is recommended, though optional for our young dancers.  

**Dancers with an outstanding balance will not be permitted to take their costume(s) home until their balance is paid.**

PHOTOS

Photos will be taken at the time of rehearsal.  It is important your dancer show up to the gymnasium, at the designated rehearsal time, dressed in his/her costume. Photos can be picked up at Casco Bay Movers Dance Studio Lobby, approximately 2-3 weeks after the performance. Casco Bay Movers will send an email stating the photos are available for pick up.

DVD Orders

Both shows will be professionally recorded. You may purchase your video online at www.luminosea.com. Order forms will be available at the box office and Casco Bay Movers. EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT FOR DVD ORDERS: SAVE $10 IF YOU PAY FOR YOUR DVD BY JUNE 1.  (NORMALLY $30)

Volunteers

We will need volunteers to usher and sit in the auditorium during the performances.  Volunteers will be able to see the performance. If you are interested in volunteering please sign up at the front desk.

Portland Youth Dance Raffle, Flower & Bake Sales

PYD will raffle a Casco Bay Movers 10-class dance card, a value of $155. Raffle tickets will be $2 each or $5 for 3 tickets.  In addition, look for the beautiful flowers you can buy for your dancer in the lobby at both performances. All the proceeds will benefit the Portland Youth Dance Scholarship and Outreach Programs.

In an effort to alleviate congestion and stress at the door on performance day, we are pleased to offer reserved seating.  Purchase early for best selection.

Tickets go on sale at the studio beginning Tuesday, May 14th at 3:00 pm.  There will be no refunds or exchanges for ticket purchases.

Dancers will be brought to the auditorium to run their dance on stage and return to the gymnasium for pick up.  Only dancers will be allowed in the auditorium during rehearsal.  Food is allowed in the cafeteria only, not in the auditorium.

The rehearsals are very important for the dancers to become accustomed to the stage and for the choreographers to make adjustments as needed for the stage.  Anyone who misses his/her dress rehearsal or has an outstanding balance for tuition or costumes will not be allowed to perform in the show.

DROP OFF/PICK UP

Dancers should report to the GYMNASIUM by 6:30 PM on Saturday, June 15, dressed in their costume, or first costume if in multiple pieces, with hair and make up complete.  Dancers will be escorted to and from the stage and will be able to watch part of the show from the auditorium.

After the show, you may pick your dancer up in the GYMNASIUM. For the safety of our dancers, no dismissals will be permitted prior to the end of the show.  Thank you for your cooperation!

We are beginning preparations for our Spring Dance Concert.  Please read this letter carefully as it contains a lot of important show information. Our shows will be held at the Westbrook Performing Arts Center located at 471 Stroudwater Street, Westbrook, ME (Westbrook Middle School) on Saturday, June 15th. There will be a matinee at 1:00 pm and an evening show at 7:00 pm. Students in more than one class or siblings dancing in different classes may be scheduled in each performance. CLASS ATTENDANCE

Regular attendance is important as we move into the last few months of the year and instructors are appreciative of communication regarding attendance.  Classes will continue to focus on developing skills and technique, in addition to learning choreography for the Spring Concert. Frequently missing all or part of classes can put undue stress on the dancer and their classmates.  Per studio policy, if a dancer misses classes in which new choreography is taught, the dancer may be asked to understudy that particular section of the choreography. Our goal is for all dancers to feel confident and successful in the choreography they perform.

DRESS REHEARSAL

Dress rehearsals will be held Friday, June 14, and Saturday, June 15.  A detailed rehearsal schedule will be sent home in May.

Each class has a half hour block of time for both photos and stage time. It is important dancers show up to the gymnasium, at the designated rehearsal time, dressed in their costume.

**Please note: Dancers who miss their dress rehearsal or have an outstanding balance for tuition or costumes will not be allowed to perform in the show.

PHOTOS and DVD ORDERS

Professional group photos will be taken at the time of rehearsal. Dancers may also opt to have individual photos taken. Detailed photo info and order forms will be available in May.
