Matinee Spring Concert Information Letter #2| Dress Rehearsal Schedule

Hard copies of the following letter and rehearsal schedule will be sent home with students this week.  As always, please reach out with any further questions.  We are so proud of our dancers and look forward to sharing the results of their hard work with friends and family on June 16th!  ~ The CBM team

Dear Dancers and Parents,                                                                               

As you all know we are beginning preparations for our Spring Dance Concert.  Please read this letter carefully as it contains a lot of important show information. The shows will be at the Westbrook Performing Arts Center located at 471 Stroudwater Street Westbrook, ME (Westbrook Middle School) on Saturday, June 16th. There will be a matinee at 1:00pm and an evening show at 7:00pm.

When is my dancer performing? If you are receiving this letter, your dancer is performing in the matinee.

MATINEE – SATURDAY JUNE 16TH 1:00 PM (Doors open at 12:30pm)

*Students in more than one class or siblings dancing in different classes may be scheduled in each performance.*

Dress Rehearsal

A detailed rehearsal schedule is attached. Rehearsal time is very tight so it’s important for the dancers to arrive at least ten minutes early prepared with costume on and hair and makeup complete to go on stage at the assigned time. TEN minutes before your rehearsal time, please meet in the Gymnasium, where group photos will be taken. Dancers will be brought to the Auditorium to run their dance on stage. If you choose to escort your child into the theater, only one parent per dancer is allowed in the auditorium during rehearsal.  Food is allowed in the cafeteria only, not in the auditorium.  The rehearsals are very important for the dancers to become accustomed to the stage and for the choreographers to make adjustments as needed for the space.  After rehearsal, dancers may leave the theater, but need to return to the theater at 12:30 pm.

Anyone who misses his/her dress rehearsal or has an outstanding balance for tuition or costumes will not be allowed to perform in the show.

DROP OFF/PICK UP

Your dancer will be sitting in the theater with their class.  When the doors open at 12:30 for show time, please bring your dancer to their assigned seating in the theater and let their chaperone know their name.

After the show you may pick your dancer up in exactly the same spot you left them.  We kindly ask that you sign your dancer out with their chaperone. *If your dancer is in more than one piece:  You will drop them off with their first performance group and pick them up where their last performance group is sitting.

****There will be no kids classes held at the studio Friday or Saturday June 15 and 16. Please report directly to the theater for your scheduled dress rehearsal.***

COSTUMES/MAKEUP

Costumes will go home with dancers in the coming weeks.  Please note that while we order costumes based on your child’s specific measurements, costumes are not custom made and will likely need simple adjustments such as hemming or adjusting of straps.  

Simple stage makeup, such as soft pink blush and lipstick or gloss is recommended, though optional for our young dancers.  

**Dancers with an outstanding balance will not be permitted to take their costume(s) home until their balance is paid.**

PHOTOS

Photos will be taken at the time of rehearsal.  It is important your dancer show up to the gymnasium, at the designated rehearsal time, dressed in his/her costume. Photos can be picked up at Casco Bay Movers Dance Studio Lobby, approximately 2-3 weeks after the performance. Casco Bay Movers will send an email stating the photos are available for pick up.

DVD Orders

Both shows will be professionally recorded. You may purchase your video online at www.luminosea.com. Order forms will be available at the box office and Casco Bay Movers. EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT FOR DVD ORDERS: SAVE $10 IF YOU PAY FOR YOUR DVD BY JUNE 1.  (NORMALLY $35)

Photography & Video Recording are not permitted during performances.

Volunteers

We will need volunteers to usher and sit in the auditorium during the performances.  Volunteers will be able to see the performance. If you are interested in volunteering please sign up at the front desk.

Portland Youth Dance Raffle, Flower & Bake Sales

PYD will raffle a Casco Bay Movers 10-class dance card, a value of $155. Raffle tickets will be $2 each or $5 for 3 tickets.  In addition, look for the beautiful flowers you can buy for your dancer in the lobby at both performances. All the proceeds will benefit the Portland Youth Dance Scholarship and Outreach Programs.

In an effort to alleviate congestion and stress at the door on performance day, we are pleased to  offer reserved seating. Purchase early for best selection.

Tickets go on sale at the studio beginning Tuesday, May 15th at 3:00pm.  There will be no refunds or exchanges for ticket purchases.

             $17 ($15 for senior citizens 65+ and children 10 & under)

*Theater Price:  Starting Friday June 15th tickets will be available at the Westbrook Performing Arts Center Box Office. You can buy tickets during rehearsal times only, and one hour prior to the shows.  Cash or Check ONLY.
